Regarding the other day's post: I already said I was a big puss.
I finally got my DirecTV installed over the weekend. Funny to think that I was actually getting used to watching programs over the air. There's one problem though: The DirecTV HDDVR is a piece of shit. Every time we FFWD through a program there is a 50/50 chance that the audio and video will become wildly out of sync. We're talking 1-2 seconds out of sync. It basically makes TV unwatchable. It is absolutely inexcusable that DTV shipped such a buggy device.
With computers and other early adopter type electronics I can expect to encounter bugs, but regular consumer electronics gear such as cable/satellite interface boxes should JUST WORK. There is no reason to ship unfinished product to market. Sure there are firmware update patches, but they should used to add features, not to fix crippling bugs that never should have shipped in the first place.
DTV is burning up any goodwill I had toward them at an alarming rate.

Wiggum: Uh, cancel that APB. But, uh, bring back some of them, uh, gyros.
Friday: Uh, Chief? You're talking into your wallet.
