The Internets Need A SKU - Old MDW Edition

The Philadelphia airport is the worst place in the world.  It took The Girl 30 minutes to get breakfast from Burger King.  It's dirty and reminds me of Old Midway.  PHL, I hate you.

Sunday weddings?  What's the point.

I managed to grab this screenshot while at the Hampton Inn this weekend.  Nothing earth shattering, but the idea of Robot Cheney amuses me.  Apologies for the insanely low res.  MSFT Paint isn't known for its image editing prowess.

  • Wantsforsale is kind of cool, if slightly narcissistic.  I don't believe any of his(?) paintings are actually worth anything near the asking price, but it's a fun concept that's easy to repurpose.  Ok, one of the $6 paintings might be worth it just for talk value.  But a month's rent?  Nice try.
  • Did you know that there have been over 7500 flavors of Doritos*?  Next to Gatorade, I don't think that anyone does quite as good a job pushing out SKUs like Doritos.  Shit, they've even run out of names for their chemically enhanced flavors.  From a former CPG marketer (That's Consumer Packaged Goods kiddies.  I.E.  Shit you buy at the grocery store) the sheer number of new products that such companies put out is understanding and baffling at the same time.  Sure there's the whole push for shelf space at the store and the constant push for product 'news'.  But the seemingly infinite quantity of SKUs must also signify some sort of massive failure on those brands' parts.  Aside from Cool Ranch, I can't think of a single Doritos SKU that has really stuck around for any length of time (although my beloved Salsa Verde Doritos seem to still be around).  One would think that they would want a couple of more core SKUs, but that could just be me.  (This rant brought to you by the bag of Blazin' Buffalo and Ranch Doritos that I had for lunch.  Don't even get me started on Gatorade AM. Nothing like a big cup of HFCS for breakfast.  MMMMmmmm.)
  • It's the 20th anniversary of Discovery's Shark Week.  That shit was cool when I was like Fifteen.
  • White Castle is testing pulled pork sandwiches.

*Maybe, I kind of just made that up.
