A Three Day Work Week Is Good For the Soul

The corporate overlords have deemed it acceptable that I vacate the premises tomorrow and Friday.  Expect nothing but crickets around these parts.

Because I am lazy (and busy!  Really!), I'll simply repurpose an email containing some of my thoughts on NBC's Olympic coverage.  They should make enough sense out of context.

I understand that they have a limited time window to show swimming and gymnastics every night, but do we really need all of the syncro diving and beach volleyball?  I can kind of understand why they show volleyball as the Americans are favored to win, but it's a huge time sink that could be used to highlight other, stranger events.  Like the American kid that won gold in double trap shooting.  They could have spent maybe ten minutes airing a condensed version of that match.

But the whole point is moot as the evening broadcast is not targeted to us.  We'll watch sports anyway.  NBC wants to make sure the womenfolk don't change the channel.  Hence all of the schmaltz and bullshit local interest stories.

One example that annoyed me:  On Monday night during the Men's team all around gymnastics thing (or whatever)  NBC spent so much time on the US Men's team just standing around doing nothing.  Then at the end, when the Germans looked like they might put up a fight for the bronze, NBC goes all rapid fire jumping from one event to the other.  Why couldn't they have done that the whole time?

Consistency:  Corn

Hip Hop Lyric of the week:  My rhymes are painfully fresh / My pussy's tasting the best.
